The Olympia is a vinyl veneered kitchen with an inset handle. This design is of a similar genre as the handless kitchen though has a handle. The handles are set into a premade recess in the door front and come in various widths to suit the door on which they are to be applied. The handle lengths are approximately 150mm shorter than the width of the door or drawer, and come in either chrome or a matt finish. Of course one does not get a choice of handle position.
At Martha Mockford we build up the rigid kitchen ready for delivery. We do not put the handles on at this stage as they can cause transport damage and if placed in the workshops then the client does not get the choice of where the handles are fitted. It is surprising some clients want the handles in some funny places. When putting handles on wide drawers one needs to place two, as the drawer can be too heavy to pull out with one handle. Nevertheless, if there are two handles fitted one should use them both as the drawer could twist more otherwise. This is also the case with pull out items such as larders and bins. Again one has to pull straight or risk wearing the mechanism unnecessarily.
